Engine Co. 52
The Canton Twp. Volunteer Fire Company was chartered in April 1957 and went active as a Volunteer Fire Company on January 1, 1976 and continues to serve the residents of Canton Twp. with pride and dedication to this day. We currently respond from two stations. The #1 station at 701 Weirich Avenue and the #2 station on Jefferson Avenue, in Wolfdale. Station 52-1 houses an Attack Engine, Engine 52-3 a 1990 Spartan, also Engine 52-2 a 1995 International Engine / Rescue, 1979 Seagrave Engine, a 2011 GMC 6.6 Duramax Diesel Brush Truck and a 1983 Ford Tanker. At our Wolfdale station, Station 52-2, we house a 2004 International Rescue/Air Cascade, a 1989 Grumman Engine. In the past year, 2010, we responded to 400 calls, which included fires, vehicle accidents, landing medical helicopters, EMS assist and public service calls. In addition to the calls we have training and work details every other Wednesday in our own station plus attend a variety of State Certified Fire Schools throughout the area. We currently have 18 Active Firefighters, 3 Fire Police, 1 Junior Firefighter and 11 Social Members. All members work very hard, all volunteering to be on call 365 days a year 24 hours a day to maintain this Fire Company and protect the residents of Canton Twp.
